MoU exchanged between Government of West Bengal, and CSRBOX

Kolkata, August 24, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ecosystem in West Bengal, CSRBOX and the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, have come together in a strategic collaboration to advance meaningful corporate engagement around the State’s development priorities.

The collaboration brings together the Finance Department’s nodal role in facilitating and coordinating CSR-related initiatives in the State with CSRBOX’s experience and ecosystem reach across CSR, philanthropy and development. It seeks to strengthen the interface between public priorities and responsible corporate action, while enabling more structured engagement across the State’s CSR ecosystem.

The Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged between Shri Khalid Aizaz Anwar, IAS, Secretary, Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, and Mr. Bhomik Shah, Founder & CEO, CSRBOX, in the esteemed presence of Shri Prabhat Kumar Mishra, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, along with senior officials of the Department and representatives of CSRBOX.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Prabhat Kumar Mishra, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, said, “There is considerable scope to align CSR resources more effectively with identified development priorities across the State. This requires an enabling mechanism that can bring together departmental needs and corporates whose CSR priorities are aligned with them. Better matchmaking, informed engagement and stronger coordination can help CSR complement ongoing development efforts and create meaningful value where it is most relevant.”

The collaboration will focus on strengthening stakeholder engagement, enabling greater alignment of CSR efforts with sectoral and geographic priorities, and fostering stronger linkages among Government departments, corporates, public sector enterprises, philanthropic institutions and the wider development ecosystem.

A CSR Projects Facilitation Unit (CPFU) will support the initiative as a facilitation and knowledge-support mechanism, helping identify and curate relevant CSR opportunities, facilitate stakeholder interactions, strengthen knowledge exchange and support coordination around development priorities across the State.

Bhomik Shah, Founder & CEO, CSRBOX, added, “West Bengal presents significant potential for collaborative action across Government, businesses and the development ecosystem. This engagement offers an opportunity to strengthen institutional linkages, enable meaningful corporate participation and support CSR efforts that respond to the State’s priorities. We look forward to bringing our experience, knowledge and ecosystem partnerships to help enable stronger and more impactful collaborations across West Bengal.”

The collaboration marks an important step towards building a more connected, responsive and impact-oriented CSR ecosystem in West Bengal, with a shared emphasis on meaningful partnerships, informed engagement and sustainable development outcomes.
